The Impact of E- Commerce on the Business World: Assessing the Changing Demands of the Consumer. This paper is a study in the form of a literature review that assesses the impact that e- commerce has had on the business world as a whole. Assessing the effects of e- commerce, or the Internet marketplace, on modern business is best achieved through focusing on the changes in consumer demographics that have resulted from the e- commerce environment. Through assessing the literature found on Internet business, changing customer demands in terms of service and product quality, and the business strategies that are employed in both modern Internet and traditional businesses, it can be seen that demographics of Internet users have changed so drastically that they have essentially affected the structure of business as a whole. The investigation of consumer behavior yields information that strongly suggests that the immediate gratification provided to the consumer by the Internet is translated into a subsequent demand on business as a whole, where consumers require an enhanced customer service department and have less loyalty to specific companies.
